Week 2 Question

Do you think that courage is the same thing as bravery? Salman and Iqbal both show they are courageous boys.  Think about how both of the boys demonstrate their bravery and comment about one of them. Then, tell about a time you've been brave or courageous.

  1. Yes.I think courage is the same thing as bravery because they both mean that you're doing something scary or dangerous with out fear. Iqbal has courage because he cut up the rug that was worth a lot of money right in front of the master and the mistress. One time I was in the backyard with my brother shooting airsoft guns. He asked me if he could shoot me in the back with his airsoft sniper rifle. Ok, the only reason I said yes was because I didnt want to act like a wimp in front of my brother Matt. So I was standing there and after I said yes I wasnt that scared any more but then he shot me and it felt terrible. That was one time I had courage and I never allowed him to do that again.

  2. I think courage is the same thing as bravery because courage is when you are brave enough to do something and bravery is when you have enough courage. Iqbal demonstrates his bravery by cutting the marvelous blue carpet into a bunch of pieces with the knife you work with. He also has enough courage to run away from the carpet factory. Salman was brave enough to go out first to get Iqbal food and water during the night. He also had enough bravery to go under the masters bedroom window first. They were both brave of withstanding the threats of the master, Hussain Khan. I also liked how Iqbal is brave to plan to escape, because if the master finds out they are planning to escape, they will be put in the tomb. I have been brave before when I was skiing and wanted to try a blue ski slope when I was only at the green level.

  3. I think that courage and bravery are two different things.Iqbal is brave because he took scissors and cut his marvelous carpet. And Salman has courage because he went outside to help Iqbal when he wasn't supposed to.Something that I did that was brave is that I went up on stage and played my violin in front 600 people.

  4. Yes, I do think that courage is the same thing as bravery. I feel like when you have courage or bravery you’re not afraid and won’t back down. Salman and Iqbal are very brave to me. Iqbal wasn’t afraid to stand up to Hussian Khan and slice up his carpet. Even though he got a punishment Iqbal still stood up for himself. Salman admits that he is scared of Hussian Khan but, wants to do something about him. He respects Iqbal for his bravery.

  5. Iqbal shows bravery because from ripping the valuable carpet because he could’ve been in the tomb for more than two days.He also shows bravery when he runs away from the carpet factory.Salman shows courage when he tells Fatima not to move when the mistress is looking straight at her when they were feeding Iqbal in the tomb.I think bravery is the same as courage because bravery is where you’re not afraid of to do something dangerous, but courageous is where you have faith or you believe that you can do it.I’ve been brave when I was six and me my cousins and my brother and sister were at a lake in Sequoia National Park, California. We were swimming and then my uncle was drowning and then when he got out of the water I showed him how it was done and jumped into to the deep part of the lake and didn’t drown.

  6. I picked Salman because he has a lot of courage and bravery. He has bravery because was the one that stood up to Hussain when he was going to put Maria in the tomb. I bet he was enraged when Hussain was going to put Maria in the tomb because she is so weak and fragile. I think he was also nervous when he said “send me too”. I bet he was satisfied too (when he said “send me too”). He was probably irritated with Hussain. He was also courageous when he volunteered to bring water to Iqbal when he was in the tomb. I think bravery is not the same as courage because bravery is what you do and courage is what you feel. I have been brave by standing up to a bully.

  7. I think that being courageous and being brave are the same thing. Iqbal showed us that he was courageous and brave by saying that they would get out of here and they will escape the factory. Salman showed us that he was brave and courageous by saying in a firm voice that they wont even though everyone thought they would. And then one time some of my friends were getting bullied and I said that you better stop or else you are going to get in big trouble! And that was to a sixth grader!!!!!

  8. I do think courage is the same thing as brave. I think this because when people are talking about how they know someone who was very brave. The people are basically saying that that person they know is courageous.

I think Iqbal is very brave. A few reasons why I think this is one, Iqbal did not show any fear when he was brought to the carpet factory. The second reason is that Iqbal cut one of the most beautiful rugs right in front of his master even though he knew he would get in big trouble. The final reason why I think Iqbal is brave is because he did not show any fear when he was going to the tomb. But Fatima could tell that he was scared from the fear in his eye.

The one time when I was brave I went on my familys zip-line up at our cabin. I was brave because I volen teared to be the first one to go on the zip-line. The zip-line was at least 30 or more feet long and my dad and my dads friend had just finished building it. I was a little nervous, but I couldn’t wait to try the zip-line.

  9. Yes, I do think that courage is the same thing as bravery. My reason for this is that is, Salman is brave when he says to send him to the Tomb if Hussain Khan sends Maria to the Tomb. Also, he is courageous because courageous means to do something that someone else is afraid to do, like to offer to send himself (Salman) to the Tomb with Maria.
(P.S. (To Ms. Bound) I realized that it was Maria, not Ali, that was told to go to the Tomb.)

  10. I think that being brave and having courage are almost the same thing being brave means that you will do something that others won’t, and being courageous mean’s that you do something that others won’t. I was brave when I jumped off of a 45 foot rock into water and no one would do it. That is a time I was brave.
